The Internet is the defining medium of the era. This short essay collection examines its origins and impacts. It traces the original ideas and techniques leading up to the Web browsing experience we know now: the preeminant means of information retrieval and exchange in the 21st century. There is reflection on the Web's social dynamics and a survey of its boundaries, as it extends beyond the digital screen, increasingly enmeshed in psyche and environment. The title draws on a range of references - technology, art, sociology - in review of the phenomenon.
